StarCraft II - Zerg's Air Attack

Corrupter
Description

The airborne Corrupter swoops over the battlefield with only one aim – to corrupt. While it does not inflict damage directly, its blob-like attacks mutate into a growth after enough has accumulated on a ship’s hull or the like. This indicates that the ship is now under Zerg control: it cannot move and will attack nearby enemy units with a continuous barrage of sharp projectiles. Air units should stay clear of the Corrupter, as it can only strike flying targets.

New Zerg unit the corrupter which can take control of enemy aircrafts fighting with cruisers:

StarCraft II - Queen the Protector of Zerg Kingdom

As her name states, the Queen is singular and imperial. Being no longer the flying vigil which could royally annoy her enemy, she has evolved into a murderous earthbound creature with claws and tusks that could match the Ultralisk’s. Possessing an array of biological abilities serving the special purpose of defending the colony, she has become true a Queen, protector of her 'kingdom'. The Queen can evolve twice, first into Lair Watcher and then Hive Matriarch. Plus, she processes three abilities after evolved: Deep Tunnel, Regeneration and Swarm Infestation.

Deep Tunnel: With this skill, the Queen can move from one place to another without of risking of running into the enemy as she will be travelling deep underground. The Queen can only rally to places where a friendly Zerg organ is.

Regeneration: To aid in the restoration of a damaged settlement, a Zerg Queen can boost the regenerative powers of a building to endow quasi-instant healing.

Swarm Infestation: When a Zerg settlement is being overrun, the Queen can use the Swarm Infestation to transform any Zerg building into a defensive fortress that attacks with firefly-like creatures.

The Queen

StarCraft II - The Evolution of Zerg Goes On

The Zerg are composed of several different types of creatures that have been integrated into the Swarm by the Overmind. These creatures, or breeds, have been selectively evolved to become efficient killers and to assist the Zerg in their quest for ultimate power. The Zerg do not utilize technology in the common sense, but their natural weaponry and armor is comparable to the most advanced gadgetry employed by any other species. This biological evolution, combined with an unmatched savagery and their blind devotion to the Overmind, make the Zerg an extremely formidable and deadly foe. The center of a Zerg habitation is the Hatchery. Their nests are composed of a thick organic matter, nicknamed the Creep, which provides nourishment for the Zerg and provides organic mass for Zerg Larvae and Drones to facilitate their transformation into larger forms.

In the game of StarCraft II, there will more new units and new and improved buildings appear on the battle fields. New units: Roach, Infester, Daneling (from Zerging), Nydus Worm, Overseer, Swarm Guardian and Corruptor. New buildings: Roach Den and Nydus Warrens.

StarCraft II – Assault and Support

Zealots which are trained in Gateway are a group of warriors that armed both strong wills and heated eager of battles. They are peerless assault templar warriors and equipped with Psionic Blades. Although they are very basic ground units in the game of StarCraft, zealots are capable and tough enough to fight though battles.

Each zealot is trained for decades in hand-to-hand combat, tactics, pain tolerance and martial discipline. Zealots are taught to hate their enemies with a white hot passion and to hunt them down without mercy.

According to game designers, the zealot will be enhanced a new ability named Charge which allows the zealot to rush to its enemy and attack like a mounted knight. The charge will remove the zealot’s largest weakness – closed combat only and boost the usage of the zealot up a little.

The Protoss Colossus, like it is named by the game designers, is probably one of the most recognizable of the new Protoss units in StarCraft II.

Trivia aside, the Protoss Colussus looks like a replacement to the Reaver. The Reaver has a splash attack (scarabs) and apart from its obvious role as a ground support for Zealots, it is often used in hit-and-run missions on enemy bases. The shuttle carrying a reaver and support troops is definitely one of the better weapons in the Protoss arsenal.

The towering colossus is a protoss robot design dating back to the bloody conflicts of the Kalath Intercession. It strides across the battlefield on four tall, slender legs which give it an extremely high level of mobility. The great height of the machine allows it to step up and down cliffs and other steep elevations with little difficulty, and gives it a dominating field of fire.

Starcraft II – Immortal and Stalker

Dragoon which was a major military unit appeared in the game of Starcraft II was announced that it will not show up in the game of Starcraft II. However, this balanced unit will be reborn and re-equipped with new abilities under the names of Immortal and Stalker.

Immortal, said to be the bright side of Dragoon, is defined as a heavy damage taker or shield. It has higher health and Psi shields than original Dragoon. The heavily armed and shielded immortals are very effective against heavy attackers, like Terran Siege Tanks so that they can provide additional protestation to legions of zealots by eliminating enemy artillery and ranged attackers, buying the zealots some time to approach their targets and complete their close-ranged assault of destruction. On the other hand, immortals are not efficient attackers because of their limited firepower. That is to say, immortals are elite defenders but not good damage inflectors
.

Stalker, the dark replacement of Dragoon, was promoted from the dark templar. Swift and deadly, stalkers have been credited for many fantastic powers. Although stalkers can not cloak like the dark templar, they have the ability which allows them to instantly teleport from one spot to another. This ability enables stalkers to strike from unexpected quarters, to catch a fleeing foe or to escape from an unfavorable battlefield. Stealthy attackers will execute their duties under high pressure from them – Stalker.

StarCraft II – Viking Operational

Are you a fan of Transformer® serials? The players and viewers of StarCraft II will see and build a new unit – Viking. Terran military technicians designed a brand new concept to offer better ground-based anti-ground support to other ground units, like siege tanks. Based heavily on the transformation design of the Terran siege tank, the Viking was designed to be the ultimate anti-air and ground-support weapon system. Equipped with the ability to change its combat shape from a ground walker to a killer fighter, the Viking can switch smoothly to feed players’ tactical needs in battles.

The high mobility of the Viking has also led it to exceed the limitations of ground support. Full-scale raids by Viking squadrons can cast devastating damage and are very problematic to counter. To take out Vikings, the player needs to bring both a strong ground and an air force to overpower them.

However, it costs more and longer to train pilots who can master both air and ground combat modes. If they are talented enough to survive the testing flights, they will last for hundreds of battles, becoming the ultimate Terran weapons.

Time to watch another Transformer® movie!

RTS Starcraft

The purpose of any real time strategy game (RTS) is to plainly have an amazing strategic as well as tactical depth in the game. Most of the other real time strategy games have their own beliefs as to what should be their strategic and tactical depth but leave it up to Blizzard Entertainment to raise the bar with their new StarCraft II game. As long as Blizzard keeps its promise to the gaming community, StarCraft will be nothing less than the ultimate RTS game with some of the best implementation of their game play elements. It is important to a gamer that the RTS’s tactical depth as well as the strategic fell nothing less than real, otherwise there is no real reason to play. A game must feel as though every part, every element in the game plays an important function in the strategic play of the game or it is worthless, but as long as Blizzard Entertainment keeps its promises with their new StarCraft II release, then it will be well worth the wait for this highly anticipated game.
